An Arlington Heights man was charged today with stabbing his grandmother, who he felt had "kind of cast a spell on him," according to police.
Daniel G. Levine, 24, of 3300 Carriage Way Drive, was charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a knife. He had been living with his 86-year-old grandmother for nearly six months after he moved from Colorado, said Cmdr. Kenneth Galinski.
A Buffalo Grove police dog tracked Levine to a hiding spot in some bushes in a backyard about 1 mile from his house. He was arrested after a brief chase.
Paramedics were called to the house at 5 p.m. Thursday. The elderly woman was transported to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where Friday she was in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
