Veterans upset over war memorial attack



THE desecration of a Kokoda Track battle memorial in Sydney has upset veterans, who are struggling to snatch why anyone would wanting to damage the site.

The Kokoda passageway sepulchre Walkway, which links Concord Hospital and Rhodes pilot station in Sydney's west, was vandalised someday between Friday after dark and Saturday morning.

Graffiti was sprayed on parts of the site and a number of CCTV cameras were smashed.

Rusty Priest, chairman of the Kokoda course shrine Walkway board, estimates a damage bill of $50,000.

The NSW Government stepped importance late today, announcing it had pass on aside $10,000 for immediate repairs and would also cover the entire price of restoration.
